Writing Services

The Rosanne Ullman Better Writing Group provides top-quality writing, editing and proofreading for businesses and individuals. We also offer full graphic arts, photography and printing services. Typical projects include:

  • Magazine articles. Read a sample magazine article.
  • Websites. We can coordinate full website creation or do just the writing. Go to www.firstchair.com for a sample of the writing and design available through people who work with us. In addition to business websites, we create websites for families, teams, work staffs or any other group that wants to stay connected online. We teach you how to maintain the site so that you can update it whenever you want. See an example of a family website.
  • Blogs. Posting a live blog every couple of days is the best way to maximize search engines and drive people to your site. We know how to use meta phrases and key words that Google, Yahoo and other search vehicles pick up. Read a blog that resulted in immediate sales when emailed to a target list.
  • Book editing. Read a sample book excerpt.
  • Marketing brochures. See a sample (in Adobe Reader).
  • Newsletters. See a sample (in Adobe Reader).
  • Full press kits.
  • Press releases.
  • Marketing videos.
  • Mission statements.
  • Annual reports.
  • Speeches.
  • Business letters.
  • Scholarly and research papers (editing only).


Hourly Charges

  • Writing and heavy editing/rewriting: $95/hour. We require a 4-hour minimum commitment from a first-time client with half of that due at the time of contract. After the first project, we do not require a minimum. We can "run the clock" and bill you monthly. If it takes 15 minutes to proof a letter, for example, you will be billed for only that amount of time.
  • Proofreading and very light editing: $75/hour.
  • Graphic design services: $115/hour or quoted per project.
  • Photography: $115/hour.


Project Charges

For some assignments, we will quote you a project fee. In that case, we ask for half the payment at the time of contract, with the remainder due upon completion of the project. Set project fees include:

  • 1- or 2-page letter or memo: $150.
  • Article of 1 magazine-page length: $500.
  • Article of 2-4 magazine-page length: $1,000.
  • Trifold or similar marketing pamphlet: $1,500. This includes copy and layout; photos and printing are billed additionally.
  • Flat rate for book editing: $15/page (double-spaced page on Word or WordPerfect).
  • Flat rate for website editing: $10-$20/page (depends on length of the web page).
  • Customized logo design: $550.
  • Family/group website: $1,500, which includes a 3-hour tutorial in maintaining the website, or $1,250 without the tutorial. Front Page software to maintain the site is additional.
  • Printing: Quoted individually.
